Movie Reviews with halochief996: That's My Boy and Rock of Ages

Story of my life. Summer school, and video games. Man studying physics is a lot of work but not too much work. Some hard stuff though. As for video games. Well still putting a lot of hours on Battlefield 3. Played a little Xbox with some friends 2 days ago. And I got Mass Effect 3 on the Origin Sale this week.

Which is pretty good by the way. You know for an ending that has really made a lot of people mad, I think it is a really nicely made game. Oh well, I haven't gotten far yet, so can't really say anything until I finished the game.  anyway Let's get on with this blog.

That's My Boy

Alright I'm going to be honest. I haven't seen a good Adam Sandler film since probably Waterboy, maybe Happy Gilmore. His latest films always seem to be dumb, uninteresting, disgusting, and barely funny. I mean I like Adam Sandler. He has a pretty cool personality and his jokes can be funny. But his movies just always seem to be gross or dumb. Anyway I think the last Adam Sandler film I saw was Just go with it, and that was a bad film. When I saw the trailer for this film, I was kind of interested, mainly because Andy Samberg is in this film, and he is pretty cool. After watching this film, I got a good laugh, and I think there is some hope for Adam Sandler.
Plot: Adam Sandler plays Donny Berger. A guy who fell in love with his teacher and had sex with her, when he was a teenager. Anyway he gets her pregnant, and has to raise their son, Han Solo (Andy Samberg), by himself. Yes his name is Han Solo. I know that is a cool name isn't it. Anyway Donny hasn't paid taxes in a while, and is about to go to jail. And his son is sucessful and about to get married. So he decides he would go and try to reconnect with his son in order to make 50 grand for a TV show. Along the way he makes things crazy and funny, and starts to become a good father. The story is perfect for this week, Father's Day. I won't say its touching or an amazing story. But as far as comedy films go, it has some meaning and morals. Plus the main point of the story is to talk about all the guilty and wrong pleasures in the world.
Genre: Like most Adam Sandler films, its a comedy. I will say I had a good laugh. There were some funny jokes, slapstick comedy, and dumb stuff that made me laugh. And then there was stuff that was just plain gross. I mean besides a teacher having sex with a student (which is very taboo in many countries), there is a Spoiler:Threesome masturbation, with 2 pictures of a grandma in her 20's and today; puking; and incest. I'm just going to say this, there is some stuff in this film that is going to either gross you out or just make you laugh about the most taboo things in today's world. Either way if you have a weak stomach don't watch this film on a full stomach.
Overall: There is hope for Adam Sandler. He can still make funny movies. If you like Adam Sandler, then I would say watch this film. You don't need a brain to really understand it, just watch it and enjoy it without any thought. A good parody on the most disgusting taboo relationships ever invented. Like I said there are some disgusting parts, but I had a full stomach and I didn't throw up. If you don't like Adam Sandler, then I would say avoid this film, or when it comes out on DVD rent it, or get it in the bargain bin.

Rock of Ages

I love Rock and roll. One of my favorite music genres. I also like Tom Cruise because he is pretty cool and slick actor. Along with Alec Baldwin, Paul Giamatti, and Russel Brand (a little, don't like the split between him and Katy Perry). Anyway I haven't seen a good musical since that stupid Disney flick that I regret watching, High School Musical. And this musical seemed pretty good, with an all star cast, and great rock and roll music. You know I was invited to watch this film for free and actually 3 days earlier than other people. Don't get me wrong it was a good film, but man I should have went earlier and saved money.
Plot: Rock of Ages is based off the Broadway musical with the same name. Basically a girl from Oklahoma comes to California, to start a new life, and make it big. She meets this guy that works at the hottest Rock and Roll club in Hollywood. They fall in love and have big dreams together. However their life goes crazy as the club is facing hostility from a crazy mayor's wife, corrupt music record companies, and a badass rock star named Stacee Jaxx. Will they accomplish their dreams? Will they forever love each other? A wild love story with some rock music, and great coming of age themes. Makes me want to see the Broadway musical. I'm sure its better told than this movie
Genre: You know what I don't get about musicals. When one person starts singing, then everybody around him/her starts singing and dancing randomly. Oh look I just walked into the store, oh I'm going to sing about love, come on everybody join in. You know I would hate my life if it was like a musical, no offense. Anyway the music is great and the singing is really good. There are some talented people. Heck Tom Cruise sounded cool, and Catherine Zeta Jones. I wish I could say the same about the acting. Some of the actors aren't really good. Like only the all-star cast is doing a good job acting, but then again their roles are not that big. Pretty much the movie focuses on the two love birds and I barely focused on them at all. Their acting was not that great. Their singing though was pretty good. Although I feel like the classic rock songs that they are singing are better when they don't sing them at all. Also whoever did Catherine Zeta Jones' makeup sucks. I mean she looks old. And I don't know about you but I know Catherine Zeta Jones looks better than what she looks like in that movie. Seriously I was pissed at the way Catherine Zeta Jones looked. Other than that the sets, scenery, and amazing lights were awesome and made me feel like I was in a rock concert. One thing this movie does do a good job about, is it criticizes the music industry. Talking about how corrupt, greedy, and ignorant record label companies are. You know sometimes I wonder am I doing service to the artists by buying music from Itunes.

Overall: Better than High School Musical is all I have to say. I mean the music is great. I enjoyed it. But the acting was average at best. Also the makeup could use work especially for Catherine Zeta Jones. Behind all the music and dancing, is a love story that doesn't really make me feel sorry or happy for them. Eh maybe I care a little but not that much. Other than that it kind of woke me up about how greedy those record companies are. Eh I'll buy some music on Itunes just so then I don't break the law. Or even better Youtube. If you like musicals then this film is not that bad. Other than that I prefer to listen to the rock music performed in this film in its original voice and pitch by the original singers.

Asian Star of the Week

Evelyn Lin
OK this girl has the same profession as 2 Asian Stars I did in my previous blogs, Maria Ozawa and Sora Aoi. She is popular though in America. And like I said if you google her, then make sure nobody is around when you have the safe search option off. I see you moving that cursor to the google search page.

Sorry for the shortness, but its hard to find proper pictures of this girl. So by all means if you like her, google her. Plus I'm sure she loves the attention.
Sorry for the late arrival of this blog. I was busy getting things together, for the main site that houses my blog is going through a transition.  Anyway I hope you enjoyed this blog post.  Until Next Time.
