Well its 12/31/11, and 2012 is just right around the corner. Lots of new games, movies, and exciting events are coming out in 2012. But I have to say 2011 was a great year. Before we get into why 2011 was a great year, here is my last movie review of 2011.
The Girl with the Dragon
You know there are some great European that are remade in the US. The remakes are usually bad. For example "Death at a Funeral." "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" was first a book. A very popular book from Sweden. The first in a trilogy of books. There were movies made of the books by a Swedish filmmaker, and from what I've heard they were good. So when I heard there was going to be another movie about this International Bestseller book, I was having some doubts that it would be good (and I was also wondering why make another movie of the book). But as it turns out, it was not bad.
Plot: If you have read the book, then yeah the movie is a good adaptation of the book. A guy named Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig) is in trouble after writing an article about a billionaire CEO that has done bad things. Whats the problem? Well he just doesn't have proof to back up his accusations. He is hired by this wealthy businessman named Henrik Vanger (Christopher Plummer) to write his family's biography/memoir and also to solve the murder of his niece, Harriet Vanger. In exchange, Henrik promises him to give him information to bring down that billionaire CEO. So Mikael takes the job, and he hires an assistant, Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara), the girl with the dragon tattoo. As they try to solve the murder, things get stranger and deadlier as they make discoveries that were missed. The story like I said is very similar to the book (don't worry I looked up the plot summary on wikipedia). A few details changed here and there, but nothing really major is changed. A really good adaptation.
Genre: Its a suspense/thriller movie. And I will say there is a lot of suspense and mystery. Many of the scenes keep you on the edge and make you pay attention. The movie goes pretty fast especially in the beginning. It gives out a lot of information while switching back and forth between scenes of Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara. It kind of reminds me of the crime shows like NCIS, CSI, Bones, and Mentalist. The movie does a good job adapting scenes from the book. The actors give superb performances. Daniel Craig gives a good performance, but I'm very impressed with the actress, Rooney Mara, who plays the girl with the dragon tattoo. She gives an outstanding and really amazing performance. She really gives the girl with the dragon tattoo a lot of character. She makes a good nominee for the Oscars as best actress. However the movie does contain some graphic scenes. So if you have little kids, immature friends, or conservative friends, you may want to avoid this film. There are some scenes that are disturbing.
Overall: A really good mystery film. I enjoyed this film. This remake is actually good. The actors give a superb performance and the execution of this film is done well. If you have seen the original Girl with the Dragon Tattoo film then you should definitely check out this US version of the film. If you have read the book check this movie out. In fact because of this film I want to read the book. Hopefully if they do decided to make movies of the rest of the books I'm sure they will be good.

Alright now its time to look back at 2011. So 2011 has been a good year for me. I got a whole bunch of good video games, saw lots of great movies, and passed my first semester of college. And started blogging on Wordpress. Yes 2011 has been a great year for me overall. Its also been a great year for movies, and video games. Lots start things off with my top 10 list of video games. Oh yeah please note these are my opinions, and the list is made up of games that I own. So yeah if you are expecting Skyrim, just know I don't own that game.
Top 10 Videogames of 2011
10. Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary-I'm a big Halo fan and Halo Anniversary brought back great memories and gave Reach a boost in multiplayer.
9. Assassin's Creed Revelations-The Assassin's Creed series has been one of my favorite series with so much historical references and beautiful recreated ancient cities. And after playing Assassin's Creed Revelation, I have to say it was a great conclusion to Ezio's and Altair's story.
8.Total War Shogun 2-A brilliant strategy game. I love the total war series but this is one of the best games from Creative Assembly besides Rome Total War. Beautiful graphics and a really big management system makes this my favorite strategy game of 2011
7. Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception-Great animations, beautiful environments, and a single player campaign makes this one of my favorite PS3 games.
6. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3-Well another COD. At least its better than MW2. We finally killed Makorov and the multiplayer is addicting.
5. Portal 2-Valve's best-selling puzzle game gets better. With coop and many more interesting puzzles. Also Glados is awesome and funny.
4. Batman Arkham City-If you want to see a good superhero videogame done right then you need to get this game. Everything about it is amazing from the graphics to the story and to the gameplay.
3. Killzone 3-This is the reason I bought a PS3. Killzone 2 was an amazing game that made me want to get a PS3. And with Killzone 3, the series gets better and better. With amazing visuals, realistic shooting and use of cover, and fun multiplayer.
2. Gears of War 3-A chainsaw on a gun is pretty awesome. Gears of War 3 is an epic conclusion to the trilogy. The multiplayer is fun and gruesome. The executions and finishing moves are the most brutal yet satisfying moves I've seen in video games.
1. Battlefield 3-My Game Of The Year of 2011. Battlefield 3 is an awesome PC video game. Its also good on the consoles but to really experience it you need to play it on the PC. 64 player battles. Plus tanks, helicopters, and jets. Also add in destruction where buildings can be blown up. That is one awesome multiplayer experience.

Little Big Planet 2- fun and entertaining and cute
Bulletstorm- hilarious and a new way to shoot things
Dead Space 2- Scarier and better ways to chop limbs off
Deus Ex Human Revolution- amazing Sci-fi story with brilliant visuals
Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War 2 Retribution- On of my favorite strategy games gets better with the addition of my favorite race the imperial guard.
Warhammer 40k: Space Marine- This game shows that the Warhammer 40k universe can not just be only a strategy game. It can branch to other genres. And man its awesome play as a Space Marine
Crysis 2- This game pushed my PC to the limits but I have to say its better than the first in terms of mulitplayer and some graphical enhancements.
Super Mario 3D Land-Best 3DS game I've played
Alice Madness Returns- If you have not played this game you need to try it out. The impressive visuals and brilliant story on the Alice in Wonderland universe make this game a must-try.
Infamous 2- improved on the first.
Resistance 3- Better than Resistance 2 except for the return of health packs
Payday: the Heist- instead of running away from zombies, I'm running away from the police with lots of cash

10. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2-an epic conclusion to a great fantasy fiction bestselling series.
9. Bridesmaids- A chick flick with attitude. I had a great laugh and enjoyed it
8. Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows- What can I say. This movie had so many great exciting moments and lots of plot twists that kept me on my seat.
7. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo- Mysterious and suspenseful. Yes the last movie reviewed made it to this list. The acting was great and the story was interesting.
6. Kung Fu Panda 2-Everybody loves the Kung Fu Panda. He's funny and can eat a lot. This is one of the best cartoons I've seen.
5. Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol-Action packed moments make Tom Cruise look awesome. Please Tom Cruise do movies like these.
4. Captain America- A good superhero movie about a hero that is often overlooked. This movie gets me pumped for the Avengers movie coming out next summer.
3. Transformers Dark of the Moon- Better than the second with more action and special effects. The new girl is in my opinion a little hotter than Megan Fox.
2. 50/50- A funny yet meaningful movie. I expect this movie to at least be nominated for an Oscar.
1. X-Men First Class- My movie of 2011. A superhero done right. With a good story, good cast, and good special effects.

Paul- Hilarious and funny.
Thor- a good superhero movie and perfect for girls who want eyecandy
Fast Five- I have to say this is the best Fast and Furious movie I've seen.
