Movie Reviews with halochief996: The Grey and Man on a Ledge

The Grey

Liam Neeson is a badass. I mean in Taken he kicked some serious ass with those kung fu moves. He a pretty awesome action star. And at 60 he is still a badass action star. That's why I was really excited to see this new movie, starring him. It was a good movie, but it left me depressed after watching it.

Plot: If you seen the trailers then you probably understand the story. Its based off the short story Ghost Walker by Ian Mackenzie Jeffers. Liam Neeson plays John Ottway, a hunter that protects the workers that work on the Alaskan Oil rigs and pipes from hungry wolves. After working hard for many days and months, the workers along with Ottway get on a plane home, but the plane crashes in the harsh environments of Alaska. Luckily Ottway and a group of survivors survive the plane crash but now they have to deal with the harsh Alaskan environment and a pack of hungry wolves. Its up to Ottway to lead the survivors and make sure they all survive. Its a good story about survival and never giving up.

Genre: Its an action/adventure and suspense/thriller movie. If you think its going to be like Taken with Liam Neeson killing wolves and saving the survivors, you are wrong. Its more about how the group survives and deals with the hardship they face. So you won't be seeing Liam Neeson going around beating up wolves with his bare hands. No Hollywood effects. Instead you will be seeing the survivors run, make survival equipment, contemplate about life, and push their limits to the max. Its a good movie, the actors give great performances and are pretty believable. However I will say the way the movie is presented, it makes me sad and depressed.

Overall: Its a good movie but after I watched it I felt depressed and sad. I mean don't let my opinions stop you from going to see this movie. I think you should go see this movie. There is a lot of morals about life, survival, happiness, and never quitting. However in my opinion its a sad and depressing movie. And I probably wouldn't watch it again.

Man on a Ledge

Sam Worthington is pretty cool. He's been in some good movies like Avatar and in video games like Call of Duty Black Ops. The title of this film is pretty obvious and self explanatory, but the story I have to say is pretty interesting.

Plot: Sam Worthington plays Nick Cassidy, a guy who looks like he's about to jump to his death. He causes a big scene, and the cops and police force are all over the place. However things are not what they seem. There is something bigger going on. In turns out Cassidy is putting on this show in order to prove to everybody he is an innocent man. Will he make it in time to prove his innocence? The story is interesting and different. It keep you interested and hooked.

Genre: Its a drama and suspense/thriller movie. There is plenty of tense moments and really close calls throughout the movie. It keeps the viewers entertained and interested. There are a few action scenes but nothing really intense. Half of the movie you will see scenes of a heist and another half you will see Sam Worthington on a ledge and doing some crazy stunts that almost look like the stunts from The Borne series. The acting is average. Cop lingo.

Overall: Its an interesting and good movie. The story is different and very interesting. The movie does a good job keeping you hooked from beginning to end.

Movie Reviews with halochief996: Red Tails and Haywire

Whats up Blogger. Hope everything is going well today. Lets get to my blog

Haywire

I saw a trailer of this in theaters and after seeing it, I was going holy crap that woman is hardcore. I mean it had action and a woman kicking ass. I had to go see it. Anyway so me and a friend went and saw this movie, and I have to say holy crap. There is another female action star on the rise.

Plot: So the story is pretty hard to follow at first but makes sense later on. Anyway a marine named Mallory (Gina Carano) is part of a PMC. She is given a task to rescue a Chinese journalist. She succeeds along with the help of Aaron (Channing Tatum). Anyway afterwards she is given a new assignment but during that assignment she finds some dirty secrets (the Chinese Journalist she rescued is dead) and is also almost killed. As it turns out the PMC has decided to burn her and frame her for the murder of the Chinese Journalist she rescued. Its up to her to find the truth and set her name straight. She ain’t going without a fight. From the way it sounds, the story is pretty simple and not necessarily original, but the execution and telling of the story is really nicely done. Going from flashbacks to present day stuff easily and without major interruptions.

Genre: Its an action film. There is a lot of action. I think Gina Carano is a MMA fighter, so she knows how to fight and pull off some awesome kicks and punches. It seems like all the fighting moves and action scenes are done by her. No stunt doubles needed for any fights I think. Anyway she knows how to kick ass. The acting is pretty descent, nothing dramatic or crazy. Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas, Antonio Banderas, Channing Tatum, and others give superb acting performances. Also the music is really smooth and nice and its makes the atmosphere feel really good. A good mix of smooth jazz and soft rock.

Overall: A pretty badass film. Gina Carano could be the next action female star. Up there with Mila Jovovitch. If you need a good action film you can’t go wrong with this film.

Red Tails

There are a lot of WW2 games, and WW2 games are still being made. As for WW2 movies, well after The Pacific, I figured there will be no more WW2 films for a while. But there are still some parts of WW2 that have yet to be talked about. Anyway I saw a preview of this film one night and it got me hooked. A WW2 film about a famous unit that is sometimes overlooked and forgotten.

Plot: So if you know your history, then you may have heard about the Tuskegee Airmen of WW2. It was an All African American Airplane fighter squadron. A history movie about how African Americans were treated unfairly and how they proved to the US they can fight and are worthy Americans. Its a good story based on true events.

Genre: Its a action war film. There are lots of airplane dog fights. And really cool special effects. There is also plenty of drama here and there in between the fights, along with a love story. Other than that, the acting is fairly descent. There are many intense moments and cool action scenes to see. Really the dogfights are the highlight of this movie.

Overall: A good WW2 film. I enjoyed it and had fun watching it. The acting may not be the best, and yes the only good parts of the movie are the dogfights and action scenes. But its still a good film, and in all honesty people need to know about this brave and courageous fighting unit of WW2.

Movie Reviews with halochief996: War Horse

Goodbye 2011. Hello 2012. Well anyway things have been going good for me so far. I got a new car, and now I'm just preparing to go back to college. Oh yeah its going to be fraternity rush when I get back. Now that is going to be fun. Anyway enough talking, lets get going with this blog.

The Devil Inside

OK I'm going to be honest. I like Horror video games like Dead Space, Resident Evil, and Silent Hill. AND DON'T EVER RECOMMEND ME THIS GAME-Siren Blood Curse-EVER. I REFUSE TO PLAY THAT GAME EVER AGAIN.
Now Horror movies well its hit and miss. The reason is usually every horror movie I've ever seen usually involves some stupid teenagers who go into some stupid haunted house, forest, or farm, and are being killed one at a time by some psychotic murderer or supernatural monster. I mean the story and characters are stupid enough. The only good part of the movie I will say is usually there are some naked chicks with nice boobs.
Now The Devil Inside is another Exorcism movie. I mean I thought we had enough of these movies. I mean in my opinion there are many horror movies about exorcism. Some that are good and some that are bad. But of course we need another movie about exorcism. Yeah if somebody could refund the time I wasted watching this film, that would be nice.

Plot: A woman named Mrs Rossi murdered some people a while back. Her daughter, Isabella Rossi (Fernanda Andrade), has always wanted to understand why she did it, and is it possible that she could end up like her mom. So she hires a film crew to document her journey in Italy, where her mother is in a mental hospital, as she finds out the truth. But as their travels take them deeper from witnessing various exorcisms to visits with the crazy mom, things start to get stranger and terrifying. Yeah terrifying as in horrible excuse for a story and for a quick buck. I find the story to not be original, shallow, and dumb. Just another exorcism story. Now I hear its based on a true story. So some crazy woman who thinks she is possessed by a demon, now that's something I laugh at and say to myself: WHAT A LOSER. Man I think people need to get out more. Seriously. Now I'll be honest I'm not Christian, so if you believe this stuff, that I apologize for being disrespectful.

Genre: This is a horror movie. Now there are some scary and demented parts. I mean if you are into that stuff then by all means watch it. Its pretty sick and weird. Parts of the movie made me jump, but in all honesty, after watching that film, I realized I'm not Christian (Technically I'm Buddhist, but in all honesty I don't care for any religion. I believe in god, but I just believe in him in my own way), so what the heck do I have to get scared about. I mean in Buddhism, the saying goes if you do bad things, bad things are going to happen to you. So my advice to all, don't do bad things. Do what is right because it is right. READ MY MOTTO. Honestly besides some scenes making me jump, I was really not scared of this. More on the lines of bored. Of course if you are really religious and believe in this stuff, then by all means this movie will be really scary to you.

Overall: If I could rewind time, and tell myself, halochief996 DO NOT WATCH THIS FILM, GO PLAY CALL OF DUTY OR BATTLEFIELD 3 JUST DON'T WATCH THIS FILM, I would. I knew from the start when I saw the preview, the movie was going to be bad. I'm telling you now, don't watch this film unless you think it will scare you. Honestly though there are better exorcism films than this. This film belongs in the bad exorcism movie film pile. Hell if you need a good scary movie to watch go watch Paranormal activity.

War Horse

Steven Spielberg makes some really good films. I mean one of my favorite films made by him is Saving Private Ryan. Anyway when I saw the preview of this film, it brought back memories of a movie I once saw called Black Beauty. So yeah I had to watch it. I will say better than that crappy exorcism movie.

Plot: The story is interesting and touching. A horse is bought, and raised by a boy named Albert Narracott (Jeremy Irvine). The horse is named Joey, and its a strong and tough horse. Anyway the horse is bought mainly to help Joey's family's farm. However a powerful storm destroys the crops they are planting, and since World War 1 has started, the horse is sold to the British army. Of course Albert is mad. But the horse must be sold in order for his family to keep the farm. Now this is where the story gets even more interesting. The movie basically follows the horse's journey as it tries to survive the war and return to his original owner, Albert. Its good and touching story. I almost cried tears of joy.

Genre: A good mix of drama, war, and action with small instances of humor. Steven Spielberg really knows how to make movies. The acting is superb, and the special effects and settings are really remarkable. From the beautiful countryside of Great Britain to the dirty and wartorn battlefields of France, everything in this movie is presented really beautifully. There are some battle scenes but nothing really graphic like Saving Private Ryan. Everything is mildly violent but still easy enough for maybe a young child to watch for the most part.

Overall: A really good film. After watching it, I felt really happy and good. I enjoyed the film a lot. If you are looking a really awesome feel good film, then I definitely recommend you watch this film.

Asian Star of the Week
Kim So-Yeon (김소연, 金素妍)

Profession: Actress
Birthdate: 1980-Nov-02
Birthplace: Seoul, South Korea

Dam what a hottie. Something to make me forget about that god awful exorcism movie. She's in some pretty good Asian dramas that I haven't even hear about, but I'm sure they must be entertaining to watch. Hopefully there are subtitles. Oh who am I kidding once she comes on I'm not going to even pay attention to the film.

Well that's it for today's blog. Anyway hope you guys are doing OK. Until next time, Happy Gaming. And go see Warhorse, and avoid The Devil Inside.
